Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) brings a distinctive growing experience to your home setup. This kit format combines a colonized 3 lb hardwood-based fruiting block, a protective carton and a species-specific growing guide. You begin at the fruiting stage rather than mixing substrate or adding culture.
A ready-to-fruit Shiitake kit uses a matured, browned block—not newly colonized white substrate. Remove the bag and activate the block only according to its strain-specific instructions. Humidity, fresh air and a resting period between flushes matter.
