Its proposed 5 lb format uses approximately 1 lb of hydrated rye grain and 4 lb of hydrated fruiting substrate, kept as distinct portions before mixing.
The fruiting-substrate formulation is 90% hardwood sawdust + 10% soy hulls (dry fruiting-substrate fraction). The ratio describes the dry fruiting-substrate ingredients, not the final wet bag or grain fraction. Water is added to suit the materials and processing method.
Colonize the bag before side-fruiting. Protect developing clusters from direct sun and drying air.
